cyan

A big concrete thingie from construction in Belmar, NJ.

"But Josy, why is it square when all the rest of your photos are rectangular?"

"But Josy, what is the point of this photo?"

"But Josy, there are so many flaws in the composition!"

I liked the color. Deal with it.

So the rest of your photos are composed perfectly? ;) I actually like the composition. Maybe if you cropped out the stamped letters and numbers, it would improve it. Still, pretty.

I also like the composition here, lettering and all. I am not sure if I'm seeing the same "monster" pod is seeing, but it could certainly be a close-up of the right eye of some sort of happyish whale, gazing upward at... um, Ahab perhaps? The lettering doesn't even hurt the whale imagery. It just looks like a clumsy, low-tech tag, as if branded by primitive marine biologists.

I really like this picture, and the square aspect ratio was appropriate and effective.

Pod- I see it now! He will eat you. 0_0

batman- I kinda like the code. The composition is screwy mostly because I did everything I could to keep that code in the photo.

John- Cripes, now that everyone's seeing the monster, I'm seeing it, too. He's even got a grassy pupil.

john's right... the format works... the square shape is a great/natural fit for circles and ellipses...

and i really like the text!...

one thought... if you don't mind... you might want to see what it looks like if you desaturate the grass just a touch... it pulls the eye off center a bit too aggressively...

I just discovered this one - I think it's great, text & all.
Not your everday photo :)

m- Hadn't thought of that. But then, I'm never quite sure how colors appear on other people's monitors- or even wheter the tilt of my laptop screen is (or isn't) throwing off the colors. From where I stand, the grass doesn't seem to saturated, but if I tilt my screen, I can see what you're getting at.

Nikon- ::laughs:: Thanks, man!
Although since it's on a daily photo blog, it IS a bit of an everyday photo, isn't it? ;)

it isn't that is the grass is too saturated... but just that it is part of a radically different color palette/scheme than the cyan... however, if desaturated a bit, it would blend a bit more (but not too much)...

hhhhmmm... have you tried adjusting your monitor?... (and i don't mean your lizard)...

Well, my non-reptilian monitor is... I dunno, I've never had a problem with it. I'm just sayin' that my monitor is different from your monitor is different from everyone else's monitor, and certain subtlties may appear less subtle on your monitor than on mine.
