Again, I have issues with this image, but the page needed some red.
There's a whole long row of these things on the side of St. Andrew's Methodist Church in Spring Lake, where the Atlantic Wind Ensemble usually rehearses.

I "have issues" with it too, but overall I still like it. I especially like how dark the wall is.
Yeah. It's way too blurry to look good at 700 pixels, but there's something about the jewel tones. I'm glad you see it, too!
Nice shot,i love it somehow :-)
God, I hate this comment system. :P
So I was saying that I really hate to shatter the sense of camaraderie over "shared issues" but to be honest, I was not concerned about lack of sharpness. I was actually wondering about the lighting and the framing.
I'm not sure there was a better way to set up this shot, and by no means am I confident I would have found it if there were. But I'm left feeling a bit unsettled, kinda like with the phone-on-a-wall picture. And sometimes unsettled is good, but I'm not 100% sure here.
As I said, I do like the picture overall. It's bold and enchanting, with wonderfully precipitous contrast between light and dark.
By the way, though this is the second picture in a row I've compared with one of your older ones, I want to be clear that in each case I like the new one better.
Kheoh Yee Wei- Mr. Daily Photo Evolution Himself has commented here! I'm honored you like it, despite its flaws. :)
John- Yeah. One of the main reasons I'm not completely switching over to Blogspot/Blogger/Whatever is because its commenting system SUCKS. Sorry 'bout that.
Anyway.
Personally, I like the phone-on-a-wall picture better. I think this window photo is unsettling mostly because the composition is off. Off how? Just... off. It doesn't follow the rule of thirds, it isn't symmetrical... it just doesn't make any sense.
OK, maybe we have some shared issues on this one after all. ;)
What you describe is what I meant by questionable framing, but I know (as with the phone picture) there are often extenuating circumstances which force you to crop a certain way.
You could blame it on your old camera. ;)
I like the way the light looks in the photograph. You have an interesting way of photographing the light in this photograph. Good description too.
My wide wife always says that when three people come together a car is flipped and a courthouse is burned. We cooked hotdogs on Saturday. Find out how delicious they are on my post.
