Nice colors and interplay of light and shadow.
The almost-completely-white background works well for me.
Magnificent leaf. I have one too but this spring freeze right after mine had leafed out, has nearly killed it and it is an older tree. So I have my fingers crossed that it will recover.

James, scream it anyway. Yes, it is a macro. Sometimes I throw the word "macro" around so much that I forget not everyone is as obsessed with it as I am. Here is Wikipedia's explanation of macro photography.
