missile
One of several Nike missiles on display at Sandy Hook. (If you click the link, see "Nike Site NY-56.") Sandy Hook currently owns one Hercules and three Ajax missiles; the missile above is apparently the Hercules.
...and this one is right across the street.
(If the image doesn't work, check MCDP's version. The second image is hosted on Wordpress, and I'm not sure Wordpress will be permanently okay with that.)

The main picture shows the Hercules; the smaller one below is of an Ajax. The Hercules is somewhat longer, vastly heavier, and uses a cluster of four boosters as its first stage.
My information comes from here, but the Wikipedia article has better pictures (Ajax and Hercules).
The building behind looks a bit out of place in this ultra modern scene.
I disagree about the modernity of the scene. The Nike Ajax was first deployed in 1953; the Hercules in 1958. Peak deployment of the Hercules was in 1963, and all Nike missiles in the U.S. except Florida and Alaska were deactivated by 1974.
(However, I only know this stuff because I actually read (parts of) the Wikipedia articles on those missiles.)
