through the window
In front of the Old Oakhurst School, now the Township of Ocean historical museum (open 6 hours a week) and the Board of Education offices, there is a playhouse. It's about 8 feet long by 4-5 feet wide and tall enough for a person to stand up inside.
A sign on the front of it reads:
"A Victorian Playhouse, circa 1915 A.D.
"This playhouse originally stood on a Wanamassa [one of the towns of Ocean Township] estate along Wickapecko Drive....
"It was built by Judge Ryan for his only daughter, Rosemary and had electricity and running water [sic].
"It is representative of the grand estates that were built by the Township of Ocean between 1860 and 1930, and the mansions that served as vacation homes for wealthy and prominent families.
"This playhouse was moved by the Museum Assoc. in 1985."
