photo of the year!

As many of you know, I encouraged readers to vote for their choice on Ocean Township Daily Photo's "Photo of the Year." There was a three-way tie between the vacuum pumps, tangoers, and a praying mantis; since, in a last-minute plea for a tiebreaker, the only appropriate opinion I got was for the mantis, HERE IS THE MANTIS! PHOTO OF THE YEAR!

Somewhere out there, there is a mantis who should be very proud of him/herself.

(Incidentally, I'm posting the vacuum pumps on Monmouth County Daily Photo, since that photoblog is practically defined by people's enjoyment of that particular photo. Not quite. But I've gotten a lot of positive feedback on it for a long time.)
