lock

lock

I want to redo my bedroom in these colors- plus maybe a lime green. I am SO sick of pink walls, which I never wanted in the first place.

And check it out- this big industrial lock isn't actually locked.

Beautiful sun-bleached colors.

Nice colour for bedroom, and interesting photo of the lock.
I would've never thought of taking a photo like that.

This wouldn't by any chance be related to the Cyan Monster, would it?

Like everyone else and their grandmother, I think the colors are wonderful. It took the bigger size of The OT for the lighter and darker oranges within the rust zones to really hit me. At the smaller size (less than 4" on my monitor), I only paid attention to the borders between rusty and nonrusty areas.

I think I like the new, brighter color scheme. It matches MCDP, which I suppose is good and bad. It makes the two blogs look more like twins than mere siblings, and I think somewhat reduces the broodiness of the darker shots.

Small Web-related notes (I know you don't miss these, but how would you recognize me if I completely stopped being annoying?): I think the smaller title size works, and having the box extend to the left and right edges is a definite improvement. (Did you put this in some time ago, before the color change?) A small side-effect, though, is that the subtitle is once again slightly off-center. The max-width in .description should now be at least 890px.

I am also noticing some issues with the DP search widget, but they are undoubtedly artifacts of my crazy screen settings and probably cannot be fixed in any case.

Nikon- Thanks! Are they really bleached?

Anu- Well, my town isn't the prettiest town in the world, so I have to get a little creative when I'm looking for subjects. :)

Slinger- Thank you for the note of favoritism on your own blog!

Jilly- Thank you, ma'am. :)

John- It was brought to my attention yesterday that the colors of the double rainbow shot looked brighter on MCDP. Since I was using the exact same image, I rethought my background color, and here we are. The rest- like the title adjustment- was done a while ago... at least last week.

I'm not going to bother centering the subtitle, because it ain't perfect, but it's centered enough to my eyes. Thanks for the feedback, though. :)

I did see the comment on the colors looking different (posted for the clematis), but that's simply a fact of life when it comes to background colors. It necessarily affects all pictures. Your response mentioned that, as well as the difference in size (which in some respects makes the pictures not the "exact same image").

To my eye, the color differences of the pictures between the blogs varied from neglible to subsumed-by-the-differences-in-background-color-and-size. I kind of liked the degree of differentiation between the blogs, and specifically enjoyed looking at the pictures on both blogs to see how different they feel, with the full knowledge that one was always just a resizing of the other (or that both were resizings of the same even larger picture). It injected an experimental aspect to the "total Josy experience." However, I also like the brighter, "happier" feel of the current OT background. Which is better depends on what you are going for.

I do love that colour. Although to me anything is better than pink! :)

Bergson- Well, I think it's only protecting some electric controls, and there's a big wooden fence around this contraption anyways, so I wouldn't worry too much about theft. ;)

John- Ah, well, I almost remembered the facts. I've switched the color back to pale gray because it looked wayyyyy too generic- just like everyone else's Blogger blog- in white. Of course, I change my mind a lot. Stay tuned for upcoming aesthetic changes.

...oh, and the phrase "total Josy experience" is kind of disturbing.

Ann- I am in TOTAL agreement with you. When I was in 2nd grade, my parents decided to paint my room. I voted for green, because I liked Ninja Turtles. But nooo, green was too dark. I suggested a light green. But nooo, light green was INSTITUTIONAL. So I ended up with pink, which I've hated ever since. BLEAH.

They are not locked, because the lock is spoilt?

Maybe it has become too rusty.
I like the colours in this picture.

Josy, I was contemplating whether to use that phrase or not, and then when I decided to go ahead and use it, I contemplated whether to add some kind of disclaimer or qualification or something. In the end, I decided that pointing out that it might be interpreted in untoward ways would essentially guarantee that it gets interpreted in untoward ways, and so I left it alone, hoping against hope that people would just read it in a nice, innocent, undisturbing way and continue merrily along.
