Silver

On its own, this is not a great photo. The composition is unremarkable, the colors are eh, and it leaves the viewer with a general feeling of "what the heck am I looking at? And why?"

So I tell you it's a lamp post.

A lamp post?

I don't know about you, but most of the streetlights around here are painted metal. This one is apparently unpainted fiberglass, so, y'know, it's kind of cool.

I was going to try to get away from this macro kick I've been on, but today is the last day to enter Photo Sharks' "silver" photomeme.

Great post! (Oh hey, there's a pun there! Bonus!) Before reading the description, I thought it was hair.

You really nailed the "you'll never guess what this is" factor with this one, and with nice delivery, too. You rock.

Well, crap. I just changed the description as you were writing your comment 'cos I thought it was a little too self-deprecating.

Hm... I hate to say this, but I liked it better before, where you talk about the colors being eh. (That is what I was referring to by "nice delivery.") I think there's a little too little text leading up to the reveal now.

[The above was written before seeing your comment, as you might have guessed, and as seems to be the trend tonight. The one thing I like better about the comments here versus your other blog is the preview function.]

There. I've changed it back to as close as I can remember it.

my, what fancy lamp posts you have. nice photo! i'll admit to thinking it was the hair of a dog before i scrolled down and read the description.

My hair, dearest Pod, is not quite yet silver. ;)

And Raindog, do you braid your dog's hair? If so, you're a more attentive owner than I.

...And your dog has longer hair. ;)
