droplet

droplet

I can attest that this was taken in Ocean Twp., but if you want to see a valid photo of the area, check out MCDP.

For PhotoFriday "purity."

This is VERY very poorly lit. I may try it again sometime, when I figure out what the heck I'm doing with lighting and ISO speeds and apertures and aspects of photography I've never even HEARD of.

I don't know Josy - the bright border eats up the photo.
Are you freezing the droplet anyway? High shutter speed?

The action seems right. How many did you take to get this one?

Just a Lily today, plus a shaft of sunshine on my oak tree. A blessing for a bountiful crop — I hope.

Nikon- Yes, fast shutter speed, and I haven't quite worked out all the accompanying settings. What do you mean "bright border?"

Abe Lincoln- How many did I take? ...a lot. I can't divulge any more than that.

the tilt really works well... as does the fact it is not center...

Josy, by "bright border" I meant the light grey of the blog page itself.

WOW JC!

Is this really a photo? It looks like a pastel drawing! And that droplet looks like the playing piece for the game Parchesi! LOL!

Run for the Border...OH! You probably wouldn't get that cuz you probably don't have Taco Bell fast food joints back there right?

If SO then I stand (no SIT! I'm TIRED!) corrected!!!

;)

Josy, it looks better - did you get rid of some of the grey on the sides?
Or did I miss my meds?

Ame, we do have Taco Bell here.

Josy, I agree with mgilpin about the tilt and off-centeredness, and with Abe about the "action." Really, I like everything about the picture except the lighting, and even that is not a total loss in that (1) it makes your picture look different than "cookie-cutter" droplet pictures and (2) to my eye, there is still a nice range of values.

mgilpin- Heh, well, glad you like that much, anyway.

Nikon- Ah, well, I can't change that border without revising the entire site design. And yes, I think we have a case of missed meds here.

Ame- I experimented with other more-processed versions of this, and I rejected them all because THEY DIDN'T LOOK LIKE PHOTOS! So be glad this looks as much like a photo as it does.
And yes, we have Taco Bells here and there. :) Sonics, on the other hand...

John- Aw. Well, thanks. Looking like a "cookie-cutter" droplet photo means I did it right, though, and once I have the technique down, then I can start doing CRAZY ARTFUL THINGS. ;)

Yeah, there is that. As much as it's nice to be distinctive, it's certainly nicer to be distinctive because you can make pictures like everyone else and then somehow transcend into uniqueness; rather than being different because you were going for what everyone else was doing, but just missed. (I will be the first to admit I very often aim for cookie-cutter and am pleased if the result looks like it wouldn't be out of place in a calendar.)
